Dell is working on a new product named HVS. This can be compared to a virtual storage array as we know it from vendors as HP. HVS stands for Host Virtualized Storage and is like a Dell EqualLogic box running as a virtual machine. Expected release data is mid 2013.
vInfrastructure.it has some details on why an EqualLogic appliance is hard to produce. This because the EqualLogic platform is not using Intel x86 based CPU’s like HP Lefthand P4000 does but used MIPS cpu.
